Project two consists of making a portfolio of work based around our chosen archive. It is split into groups in order to record the various qualities of the materials. I started by taking photographs of the chosen items, my wedding dress, a knitted jacket, and a rocking chair.
For our initial drawings we are asked to record texture, tone, weight, detail, pattern, and surface. Starting off with simple illustrations on white paper in pencil/ink.
To follow on from these drawings we were then to do a selection of drawings to represent details through linear marks. Could we express drape, volume, folds, using line. We were encouraged to experiment with tools, shapes, and scale.

We were then asked to use collage as a drawing technique. While we might not be as accurate as drawing we could still get a “feel” for the fabric from collage.
Lastly, we were asked to make a collection of drawings to represent the finer details on the fabrics. So aiming to reproduce stitches, marks, folds, and embellishments.
